Red Cluster

Teaching and Learning

The new programmes of study have been incorporated by all team members. Assessment for learning is used to develop a clear understanding of pupils progress and attainment.  All staff have contributed to the vision for the new curriculum by tracking pupil progress.  Behaviour in classes is well managed and requires little intervention.  A recent visit from our Link Governor saw pupils developing Life skills and celebrated good progress in the cluster.

Pupils in this cluster benefit from a wide variety of interventions including outdoor pursuits, speech and language therapy, rebound therapy, massage therapy, hydrotherapy and physiotherapy.

Accreditation is offered for Year 10 and 11.  Pupils follow courses such as Music and Communication.  Pupils in Key Stage 5 go to College for inclusive opportunities to take part in Pottery, ICT and Performing Arts.

There are opportunities for Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development when the cluster comes together during school assemblies and themed days such as MFL, Jeans for Genes day and religious celebrations such as Diwali.

Pupils and staff engaged in MFL and World Book day which was a resounding success. The theme was Brothers Grimm German Fairy tales and activities was focused on Hansel and Gretel. Staff dressed up for the day as a character from the Grimm Fairy tales (including Rapunzel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Rumpelstiltskin). Much enjoyment was had by both staff and pupils.

Chick Flicks : Class 11 embarked on enabling staff and pupils to view chicks hatching as part of the theme on new beginnings. This was a successful project where everyone learnt and understood a little bit about life cycles.
