You may see information on social media about today's events at school. We want to reassure you of the facts as they are not accurate in some reports. We ask you not to share or post anything different to the statement below. Thank you all for your understanding and support today.

Green Park School was closed to pupils and staff this morning (Tuesday 20 January) following the detection of an unusual odour in the vicinity of the swimming pool.

Staff responded promptly with the health and wellbeing of children and staff the school's top priority. As a precaution, paramedics were called to assess a small number of individuals who reported feeling nauseous. No serious concerns were identified, and the school would like to express its gratitude to emergency services personnel for their support and advice.

An investigation is now underway to determine the source of the odour, which is currently believed to be associated with a mechanical issue, and any remedial work which may be necessary. No chemical incident was identified.

Stowlawn Primary School, which shares the site, was also closed as a precaution. Both Green Park and Stowlawn will remain closed tomorrow (Wednesday 21st January) whilst checks are carried out by school and council staff. Both schools will update families on plans to reopen once the issue is resolved. Thank you again for not sharing mis-information and for your support and understanding today, under the unprecedented circumstances.
